Northern Nights, Starry Skies Special Online Screening and Q&A session
Sunday April 16th 7pm. Q&A panel follows the screening at 8pm
Join us as we kick off International Dark Sky Week with an invitational screening of the new documentary produced by PBS North and The Center for Global Environmental Education at Hamline University. The film celebrates our night sky with beautiful photography by Travis Novitsky, Ojibwe Night Sky lore with artist and author Carl Gawboy and the story of the designation of the largest Dark Sky Reserve in the World consisting of Voyageurs National Park, Boundary Waters Canoe Area, and Quetico Provincial Park. The film also examines the threat of light pollution and offers examples of citizen action to minimize light pollution as well as actions each of us can take to preserve the night.
The screening is free but as Starry Skies North launches our new status as a 501c3 Nonprofit we are asking our supporters to purchase a membership or make a donation of your choice if possible. If you are not able or ready to make a donation you may still register for the screening.
A Question & Answer session will follow the screening. The Panel will include Travis Novitsky, Bob King aka Astro Bob and Cynthia Lapp who all appear in the film. It will be moderated by Bob Foucault the director of the film.
