We will be presenting at the next Heart of the Continent Partnership meeting near Atikokan, Ontario. The HOCP is working on Dark Sky designation from the International Dark Sky Association. The mission of the HOCP:

Half the park is after dark! Whether you have yet to experience the grandeur of the Milky Way, or you are a dedicated amateur astronomer, come experience McCarthy Beach's dark skies. View the stars and sun through telescopes, hone your night sky photography skills in a workshop, learn constellations from an Ojibway Skywatcher, and many more programs. Join us for a weekend of fun programs and share your passion for the night sky and astronomy.

Join in the fun Saturday August 12 at the McCarthy Beach State Park Dark Sky Festival!
Events go from 10:00 am - midnight, and include presentations, solar observingthrough a telescope 11 am - 1 pm, afternoon activities and night-time stargazing. Our chapter president Cindy Hakala will be kicking things off at 10:00 am sharp.

Starry Skies Lake Superior IDA chapter members Randy Larson and Cynthia Lapp will be presenting about LED lighting options to the Eagan, MN Environment Advisory Commission at 7:00 pm Tuesday August 8 at the Eagan City Hall.
